Outlaw cars....
How many of you guys run strictly 1/8th mile these days? I do, because the class I run in is an 1/8th mile heads up class. How about you?

Ether one. Makes no difference to me. My junk has no problem making it a extra 660ft.

Rear end gearing is the main thing.
A car that is all set up to have a good starting line ratio and max out the rpm right at the 1/8th mile would take a lot of effort to work out a new combination that still cuts good 60fts and can make it to the 1/4 without bouncing off of the rev limiter.
Also there isn't nearly as many races that run the 1/4 near me. I have one track that sometimes has events for the 1/4, and 3 tracks that have 1/8th mile events often.68 Mechanical Alcohol Injected LT1.

I know the theories. I was asking Stefan specifically what HE has to change. If I wanted to run 1/4 mile, I have to change tires AND rear gear. I'm afraid these little 26x8.5's I race on won't be very stable at ~160 mph, and even if I put 275s on my car, then my 4.11 rear gear will still probably be too steep to run out the backdoor on a 1/4 mile run.

Guys have been 4.90s on them actually, but thats still only 1/8th mile. 1/4 mile is a little different story.
