That Monte has too much power! I guess that's how you become King of True Street though
Some people think they are bad*ss when they wrinkle the sidewalls. You "wrinkled" the wheel studs ! ! !'72 Nova "HadeSS"

I bent two pairs of rear studs (2nd were 1/2") using stock style acorns on street wheels. Never had an issue with shanks/drag wheels. Last set I bent were Moroso brand and I now have ARP. So far, so good. I picked up a pair of ET lugs which I may try out if I decide to run the car at the track on street wheels.

My car did that same thing to the Strange 3" studs that came with my s60. I replaced them all with the ARPs, haven't had an issue since. That was back in 2009. And I must say the ARPs are clearly a much higher quality piece when compared side by side.

That's what I am hoping, shanked lugs, drag wheels and better quality fasteners. I needed longer studs for the front any way so I ordered ARP's all the way around.

Dad sheared 2 sets of strange screw in studs (12mm ones) on street tires. Once on the street and once at the track on STREET tires. I'm not sure what they make them out of but its not good. He was running a set of zr1 knockoffs with a standard acorn nut when it happened. He had previously ran prostars with the shanked lugs and had no problems. After the last set sheared he upgraded to 1/2" ARP studs and hasn't had any problem running the zr1 rims with standard acorns. Gonna be testing the prostars and slicks soon so we will see if that healed it for good.

I would be safe in saying the acorns caused the studs to bend. Here is an example of what I picked up which may fix the issue should I want to run a non drag wheel requiring a conical lug. Notice the lug has an extended "shank". For long studs, I picked up the open ended version.
