Look about halfway down the page at the 350 Cubic Inch, 330 Horsepower Engine (LT4)

    Dead giveaway. If it's a legit LT4, it'll have an 8K tach.

LT4 is the RPO. If it is an actual LT4 car it will be listed on the RPO tag instead of LT1.

The surest way is to check the 8th digit of the vin. If it's a P, then it's an LT1. If it's a 5 then it's an LT4 car. You can also look up the rpo codes for the grand sport models at the grand sport registry. A quick google search should lead you there. There were also the sebring silver collectors edition cars that came with the LT4.

Very familiar with the collectors ed, and the GS... I was just wondering about all these 96 vettes out there that have GS TB plates, or claim to be LT4s...etc.

I didnt know that the 8th digit is a "5" for an LT4.....

    So, at this point..

    -8k tack
    -RPO that reads "LT4"
-8th digit of the vin as a number "5"

are all identifications of LT4 96 corvettes.

1996 was the last production year of the 4th generation corvette. So they made the LT4 engine that was put in only manual transmission. Which came with the "Grand Sport" TB name plate. There were upgrades made to the engine giving it an extra 30hp to the crank over the LT1 engines which were only for automatic transmissions in the last production year of the C4
