Is your car a 1993 with the M29 tranny? Or did you put the 3.23s in at some point later?
The same cam I mentioned would likely do well in your car also. It's basically a slightly more aggressive/improved version of the very popular CC503 IMO. With a wider (114+) LSA and it was and is a very popular cam with the blower crowd.Cayenne Red Metallic 1997 Z28 M6

I have a 503, T56, and 4.10 gears. There's a bit of cam surge between 1500-2000 that you can feel with the clutch fully engaged but that's about it. I typically keep it between 2000-2500 RPM around town, up to 3k when my driving gets more spirited. Sounds great and feels great to me. I don't even have a proper tune as of yet, have to get back to Solomon because the one he sent me was undriveable. I'm currently running a modified version of SexyTransAm's 503 nitrous tune I converted to M6.

Car in my sig was originally an m6 and tuned by Solomon. The drivability was VERY good vs the pcm4less tune I had. It was just like you described. I tweaked a few things in the solomon tune and was able to get it down to very little surge. The current tune on the car was a fresh tune by me using a few things taken from that tune but tweaked for the th400 and running speed density. Pm me if you'd like a copy of that.

Are you willing to change gears and are you at stock static compression still?
Add some gears to that CC306 and it'll change your mind about it completely. I ran one with 3.73 and 4.11 gears and it was a pretty fun camshaft. However compression is it's friend.
I have a XE503 that I run in my Vette with ported heads and the power is pretty smooth through out, it definitely doesn't "come on" at 3200-3500rpm like my CC306 used too. But I liked the way the CC306 felt above 3500, it certainly moved that full weight Fbody around.
Is the bucking the only thing you don't like about the CC306? Depending on the setup it might only need 6200rpm or so to make peak power. I never had bucking problems, but really in a Fbody you need gears with that cam, it'll help it everywhere, especially down low. If you don't want gears I'll say that my XE503 with 3.42's and a Madwolf tune never bucked in either a Fbody or Ybody car. It's a good all around cam and will have a quieter exhaust tone, be more efficient, a little more down low, but lose a little up top to the CC306.
If you're going to go through the trouble of a cam swap I'd skip right to Lloyd. He's nearly the same price as good shelf cams like Lunati, but does an EXCELLENT job and matching things up just right.
PS I see no reason to get a XE224/236 unless your going to get boosted.1994 Z28 383ci - Jake's 4L80 - Moser 9" [LE2 heads and LE cam - 121mph @5500DA]
