something that should be brought up is that the odb1 auto transmission is slightly different. I talked with someone at preformabuilt transmissions and i believe they said the 3-4 solenoid needs to be changed out to allow the computer to communicate with the transmission properly. I save the email and can post it if you guys want.

What is a ballpark cost of doing this conversion with the harnessing from BP and whatever other parts need to be sourced?

I am roughly $1500 into it. But I've got a group buy on both the kit from BP and the reluctor kit from EFI. My kit also includes a new harness. You can save a little $ having your stock harness reworked. Another 4-500 and ill be complete.

2000 sounds pretty steep for this conversion even though the more i read about it the more i want to do it. This may be something i need to put off until my car is fully rebuilt

I'm a 96 but I need the EFI billet timing chain cover ($345). And figure in the little stuff like ls1 spark plug boots, tools needed to convert my wires. But the tuning capabilities are well worth it. And no more opti!!!

Why do you need the billet timing cover?
