I bought the Strike Eagle earlier this year. Wasnt able to take it out the range last time as i didnt have the mount, but now I'm ready to give it a try. Seems like a solid optic for the price.

Its a 3moa dot why would you need any magnification lol.
The vortex is 1-6x not 4. The vortex will turn whatever gun into a shooter rather than a plinkster.

Yeah, the dot is 3 moa covering 3 inches at 100, say you have an semi accurate rifle and ammo at 1.5 moa that's 4.5 inches of variance at 100 if you are shooting perfect. Most average shooters from a bench or prone can shoot 1.5 moa on a good day with match grade ammo and equipment.
So that's why you are missing bricks.... like a said plinkster to shooter.

Yeah I'm shooting garbage with the basics right now, just wanted to get her comfortable with it. I ordered the scope this morning. What round should I be using with a 1:8 twist barrel? Just shooting American eagle ar556 for now

The Mrs 1-8 heavy barrel 16 inch stabilises 77grain bullets just fine, use them for paper and the 400 yard gong. But velocity sucks.
In short it depends on what you want to do.
With the scope you can practice shooting groups and have fun blasting or plinking that's what the scope is for, it just won't do one single thing really well.
If you are only shooting 100 yards any bullet weight will work lighter is generally cheaper.

I don't shoot alot of factory ammo, and ammo selection depends on the rifle. The rifle may not be capable of good groups. Some rifles like certain Ammo's.

I would suggest bore sighting and buying 3-5 different types of American made ammo(federal gold medal match) and see what shoots best. It's all part of the fun, figuring stuff out lol.
Once you figure it out have the cheap blasting ammo and the good stuff for shooting golf balls and tannerite. Lol

What are your thoughts on primary arms stuff? They have a strike eagle clone that from the reviews looks promising. The strike eagle I ordered off amazon is back ordered from seller 8 weeks so I cancelled order.
