The last two weeks here have been a bit of a disaster to say the least. To summarize, we had someone infiltrate our database through a security hole in vbulletin, we had some discrepancies with our host, and we also had some other weird issues that presented themselves after everything was back up and running. It took a bit of time to narrow the last issue down, but I can safely report that the site is back up and at 100%. I want to apologize because I am the admin who is responsible for all of the coding and database stuff. As most of you know, I have had a lot of personal issues with my wife's health and the timing of everything really was not good. As she gets worse it's harder for me to be here and present on a daily basis, which creates a delay when there are issues with the forum. While it would most likely be a good idea to get another admin up to speed on what I do, the difficulty and time required to accomplish such a task is simply not something I can take on. You guys have been amazing with patience when it comes this kind of stuff and for that I am grateful.
I also want to mention a few other things; the bacon if you will. We have closed down the old Facebook group and setup a page instead. Facebook is archiving the old group format and instead having everyone migrate into a "page" format. The old group is not accepting new members, however, the new page is. You can find it by going here and hitting the like button: http://www.facebook.com/pages/LTXTech/136582729757020 We are also working on the iOS version of the LTX mobile application. The issue with this is that we have to pay apple a 100$ license fee that's only good for a year and the app has to be submitted though apple's OS. I have completed a dual-boot installation of OSX Leopard, which will allow us to sign the application with the required OS keys and certificates. We didn't want to pay apple until we had a working OS ready to go to sign the application. After we finish the build of the app, Apple has to approve the app, which I've been told can take anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks. Each update to the app has to be approved as well. The intricacies of getting an app on Apple's App Store is a little bewildering, especially since all we had to do was create an account and upload the file for Android. As soon as the app is finished, we will sign and certify it, upload it for approval, and then let everyone know it's on App Store. I promise we are working on this for you guys and will finish it shortly.
Another update worth mentioning is the new text editor for all of your thread and reply posting. It's called CK Editor and is now a standard inclusion of vBulletin from now on. It's actually a very nice addition that I think everyone here will enjoy. You have the ability to re-size the text box as you require and auto save your text in case your browser crashes or you accidentally delete something. In addition to the new editor, the new installation of vBulletin is much more secure than our previous installation. Many of the security holes that were present on our old installation have been closed so we should not face any more incoming attacks.
As always, if anyone has any suggestions or questions, feel free to post up. Thanks again for all of your patience during this rough patch. We've got the boat back on the water and I am anticipating much smoother sailing. Thank you all!

LTXTech and the LTXShootout have been a staple of the LTX community for the past 4 years now. Since the inception of LTXTech, the community has been scattered and spread thin through many different local and wide-range forums. Now that the LTX enthusiast has a warm home, the Administration of both LTXTech and the LTX Shootout have decided that it would be in the best interest of the community to have the forum and discussion aspect of the celebrated event hosted here, at LTXTech. Going forward, the LTX Shootout homepage will still serve up news and announcements, while the forums link will redirect everyone here. We will be unveiling some new areas under the LTX Shootout section that will be more similar to the current setup at the LTX Shootout's site. There will be changes to the LTXTech forum to highlight the Shootout as well as other areas of the forum having additional links and advertising for the Shootout.
The LTX Shootout is going into its fourth year. As always, the guys over there request donations to sponsor the event. Every year a major donation is needed to secure the title sponsor. Every year, our community, your community, the LTX Community, steps up and makes this goal a reality. Yet again you guys have proven that there is no better community on the internet. Officially, LTXTECH is the 2011 LTX Shootout Title Sponsor!!!
With these major announcements shaping the future of the LTX community, we feel confident in saying that this will be one of the biggest and brightest years in the LTX world. We encourage everyone to look forward to the new sections opening up shortly and welcome all of the new members from the LTX Shootout forums.

You know those cars from high school that will forever live in your memory? Remember the guy that was so lucky cause he drove this or that? Or the rich kid whose dad bought him the newest thing? Do you ever wonder what happened to those cars? Well, I do and sometimes life throws you some wierd answers to those questions.
Back in high school ('93-'94 ish) I knew that rich kid. Not well, Maybe spoke twice throughout high school. His dad was a doctor and bought the kid a brand new '94 Firehawk. I remember those were the stuff baby! 305hp Ram Air LT-1, SLP tuned, yada yada yada. I also remember they cost more than my own dad made in a year. So no prayer for me. Not a chance in hell. The kid ended up putting a killer system in the car, entered it in stereo contests, put a black racing stripe over the top of the car, and finally ended up putting some awful set of wheels on it. Just awful. One of a kind, had to be. Nobody would make two sets of this monstrocity of an excuse for a wheel. Then I went off to college...and the car disappeared.
Flash forward to winter 2010, on a Friday night about 10PM after a lovely night out with my beautiful wife (If you've ever seen me, you know that I am a lucky man 'cause I ain't no prize...and my wife must be blind). Anyway, I jump on craigslist as a way to wind down and start cruising the classifieds. First car on the local list: "1994 Firehawk, 40K miles, Procharged" What? That sounds cool. I'll call. It's 20 miles from where I went to high school and currently reside. I called. Guy explains to me that it does indeed have 40K miles and he bought it with the procharger. He also explains that in the 7 years he's had it...it's never run. Won't start. So he was going to make a race car out of it.
How far did he get? He stripped the interior. Nothing else. Otherwise, everything was there. So I asked if I could come see it...immediately. He explained that he was having a party and didn't mind me coming over, to the hood...I mean to the HOOD. So I grabbed an old buddy I went to high school with, 4 guns, a tazer, some cash, turned my hat sideways and headed off. Yea, I blend.

Hey guys. I know that everyone is anticipating the banner rotation. I'm going to get it going for all of our Picture of the Month winners.
We have a few new guidelines for the winners. First, the winning car will be featured in our banner rotation. Car, not picture. So congrats to all future winners.
Now onto the rules. Entries for picture of the month can be of any lt1 powered vehicle. However, the banner can only be limited to cars that came powered by an lt1, or lt1 body style. The site has an image to project, so unfortunately we cannot have an rx7 in our rotation (sorry swap guys n gals, I wish I could change that). New users will be confused and we can't have that.
If you win picture of the month with a non ltx body styled vehicle (camaro, firebird, impala, corvette) then you will only receive the featured ride blog entry. Until I can come up with something else, that will be the only perk. Sorry
If you win with an lt1 body, then you will get the blog feature, PLUS the banner rotation. Here's where things get tricky.
Pay close attention here...
As a winner, you have the option to be in the banner or not. If you choose to be part of the banner, YOU MUST, submit a picture of your car at the angle shown in the current banner. This is a non negotiable rule. I want to keep everything uniform so you guys have to submit a picture at the angle in the current banner. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it MUST be close. I hate to be a stickler, but we need consistency here.

GM High Tech Performance recently published an article about the 2010 LTX Shootout. I've posted the article below and included the link to GMHTP's website so you guys can view some of the pictures they took at the event.
It's hard to believe it has been over a year since the last LTX Shootout, but we are happy to report that the third annual LTX Shootout, which took place on September 4th, 2010 at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was a great success! If you have never been to an LTX Shootout in the past, I need to get you up to speed on some of the behind the scenes particulars. First and foremost, it is important to understand that some large organization or a massive sponsor doesn't put on the LTX Shootout. On the contrary, its own community, a group of obsessed enthusiasts whose common goal is to give the LTX community a place to race and a place to gather, foots the bill for this event. Secondly, you have to understand that racers at the LTX Shootout are also the event directors, often returning from a run only to trade their helmets for a radio, helping coordinate the event and keep the classes moving along.
...As you can imagine, running a small event like this doesn't come without its fair share of heartache and trepidation. In the months and weeks leading up to the Shootout there seemed to be many more questions than answers. People wondered aloud if the Beech Bend facility would be able to handle the LTX crowd and, more importantly, if enough people would show up in Bowling Green for the event to even take shape. In regards to event participation, the LTX directors and message boards were both afraid of a low car count and limited attendance for certain cars, as many racers seemed to break or run out of luck just days before the event.

It's sad to say, sad to think about, and hard to come to terms with. It's personal for me, for during my entire life of driving age, I've had a Pontiac in my possession. But as of yesterday, October 31, 2010, GM's agreements with Pontiac dealerships is officially terminated, causing Pontiac to cease to exist. Heck of a trick without a treat.
My first car was a Pontiac. I remember how I originally wanted an Iroc Z Camaro to be my first car, until I caught notice of the attractive lines of the Firebird. It just looked.....better, o me at least. So my hunt went there, and I can easily look back and appreciate every Pontiac I've come to own. The first on, an 84 Firebird SE. Then my 1991 GTA, a low production beautifully designed vehicle. My calamity of a 99 Trans Am that I bought new, and still enjoyed though the issues. The two 93's I have owned, one of which is still parked in my garage and will never leave my possession.

Hey everyone! This article is being written to give some insight into some of the things that are going to be going on with the site over the next few days and then eventually over the next coming months. As many of you noticed, LTX was down for almost a complete week as a direct result of our server host, who we also pay to host our domain. To make a long story short, there was a major discrepancy and they refused our renewal of the domain. Sean got everything sorted out and, as you can see, the site is back up and running. We will absolutely be migrating our domain registration from our current host to a new one. When this happens the site will most likely be down for the day as domain propagation can take up to 48 hours. You will know this is happening because the website will not be available, at all. You will not receive a database error or any other kind of error message other than "the site cannot be found". We will do our best to give you guys as much notice as possible, but realistically, the host isn't concerned with our users so once we decide where to go, it could be a matter of minutes before she goes down. As always we will continue to update everyone over on our Facebook page.

So the 2010 LTx Shootout has come and gone. It was a great day for racing with temps in the upper 70’s and a wonderfully supported venue via Beech Bend Raceway in beautiful Bowling Green Kentucky. There was a total turnout of about 40 cars and would have been many more, but according to Tony Shepherd, one of the event organizers, quite a handful had to back out during the last two weeks leading up to the event. Even with the group that couldn’t make it, there was a number of cars greater than showed up for last years event, and the enthusiasm was high as always.
