So, I'm helping a friend build her 1994 Z28 and we're doing full exhaust first, but I'm caught up, and I have a few questions. It's going to be a street car that will get driven on the weekends, and to the track but not a daily for the most part.
1. Is ceramic coating necessary or would painted headers work? How long does the painted coating last?
2. Brand preference? I had hookers and loved them except for the tapping, but that didn't bother me that much. I've found some TPIs (tpis.com) headers that I like but the ceramic coated version is more expensive than the hookers, so what do you prefer? Pros and cons? Personal experience?
3. Where can I get the best deal?
4. Comments?

Another questions for some of you guys thats been this route before is im still wondering if thats the best way togo with stock bottom end or should i have throw a bottle at it? i was kinda hoping for a little nitrous on top of the le3 but hate to blow up a good motor. i have a cc306 cam sitting on the shelf i never used on my last build but thats a little to extream haha. i want a fast reliable toy while keeping the same shortblock safe. let me know what you guys think will be my best bet.

It's getting fucking redicilous. I usually get at least 2 calls a day from random telemarketers! One of them keeps calling me even after I had them remove my number from their calling list!

One telemarketing company calls me 2-3 times a week about cruises. I didn't sign up or anything from this company. I've tried removing my number at least 10 times when they call me. That whole "press 2 to remove your number" isn't doin anything. I've even talked to some of their reps and told them not to call me anymore also.

What should I do about this? It's fucking annoying.

I've been toying around with the idea of repowering it. Primary concern is fuel economy as this car is my fair weather daily driver. It seems the current craze is to turbo the 5.3 or 4.8 ls engines. I gave it some serious thought but I keep coming back to the lt1. I've worked on them for a long time and im just comfortable with them. Not to mention I have a whole garage full of parts. So I have officially decided to go with the ltx. I say ltx instead of lt1 because I have an l99 (baby lt1) in my garage aaaaaaaand im thinking about going that route, with a turbo. Reason is, the smaller cubes and turbo should make for a pretty fuel efficient engine. And I've never tuned a turbo engine before so I figured if I blow it up in the process, im not out much. Ill already have the turbo in the car and I can build a proper turbo engine to take its place. So what I have planned so far is to tear it down, put new bearings and rings in it, and put a set of aluminum heads on it. This will take the compression from 9.9:1 to 8.8:1. Im also going to put an lt1 cam in it which is slightly larger. I have searched every site I can find for info on the l99 and its limited. Most guys want to build one to be different or to prove its worthy etc. They end up getting flamed and you never hear from them again. All im doing it for is to learn how to tune a turbo motor and to have a fuel efficient ride.
